The first regulation regarding the waste electrical and electronic equipment was first put forward in 2005 however it was again reviewed and reinforced in 2011. These protocols are not only for the equipment but also for it’s different components.

Obligation

There are certain duties or responsibilities determined by the waste management of electrical and electronic equipment for the manufacturers, dealers and the consumer. The producers are suggested to produce the electronic equipment in such a way that they can be easily managed or recycled after they stop working. The equipment should be easy to recycle, reuse or manage waste.

End users of Equipment

Although the manufacturers have huge responsibility of waste management of electronic equipment the end users have also equal responsibility. There are two ways for the users to dispose the waste electrical equipment. They are:

  1. The end user can take the waste electronic equipment to the retailer.
  2. The equipment also can be taken to the household waste recycling center.

The waste electronic equipment if not disposed properly can cause different environmental hazard as they may contain different chemical harmful substances. Therefore these equipment should be recycled or reused as much as possible. This not only saves environment but also saves money.
